The Birth of Cody Edward

On Friday, June 22nd at 6 am I checked into Kaiser to have an 8 am c-section. As I got settled in my room and the nurses were putting in my IV and asking questions when they got called out the room for an emergency c-section. I knew then that mine was going to be delayed. Once they were done they came back in and said I would be delayed till 9 am. Not to bad only a hour longer. Around 8:00 am the doctor came in asking questions and getting me ready to go into the operating room. As the doctor looked through my test results in the computer he noticed that my CBC test results were missing. They couldn't continue without those results. After a few minutes the nurses and the doctor decided that my test results were lost somewhere along the way in Kaisers new chartless computer system. My OBGYN had to get back to her office and see her morning appointments. We were again delayed till Noon. At that point Jon, Hunter and my Dad left to go get some breakfast. They came back with Carl's Jr and we all hung out. My cousin Andrea came up to the hospital on her way to work thinking we already had the baby. I also checked my voice mail and had 3 messages saying "congrats" only we didn't have the baby yet.

I finally fell asleep and was getting some rest when the nurse came in and said it was almost time. She told me I had to wear this shower cap looking thing. She wrapped a blanket around my shoulders and told Jon she would be back to get him. I gave Hunter a big hug and kiss and told him I'd see him soon. Down the hall way I walked to the operatoring room. I sat down on the table and they said it was time for the spinal. Luckly I wasn't going to be numb as long as I was last time. This one was only going to last 3 hours. After the injection they laid me down and started putting up the curton and getting everything else ready. I started feeling like I was going to throw up really bad and was wondering how I was suppose to do that when I couldn't move. Just as I was saying something they were giving me a shot to help with that feeling. Dr. Sorensen came into the room and put her gloves and gown on and then they brought in Jon. They said they were going to start now. Through out the surgery Jon had his hand on my forehead for comfort and was asking if I was doing okay. Dr. Sorensen tells Jon to get the camra ready cause here comes Cody.

At 12;39 pm Cody Edward Mueller was born. Cody had just recently taken a poop right before the pulled him out. Luckily they were able to suckon his mouth and nose before he took his first breath.

Boy or Girl ? ? ?

Jon and I found out with my first pregnancy what the sex of the baby was so it was only natural that we did it again. For anyone who has had a baby knows that drinking the 16 oz of water and not going to the bathroom till after the ultra sound is nearly impossible. I couldn't wait for it to begin. We had a really nice tech when we were pregnant with Hunter. She explained how the ultra sound worked and answered any questions that we had. This time around we got by far the most unfriendly tech I have meet. At one point during the ultrasound she asked Jon and Hunter to leave the room, which really bothered me. Specially cause Hunter wasn't doing anything wrong.

The results of the ultrasound . . . . . . . IT'S A BOY!!!!

16 Week Appointment

I went for my 16 week appointment today. I was nervous to go this morning. I hadn’t been to the doctor since December 5th. Being that I’m not feeling movement yet my fears were strong. I got to my appointment early cause I had to do lab work for the AFP test. When I got the Kaiser the lab I was planning on using had been closed. So, I headed upstairs and checked in for my appointment. I was about 15 minutes early. While I was waiting I could tell that they were running behind. I had an 11:45 appointment and it was now noon. I finally got called back around 12:15. As I waited for Dr. Sorensen I started to think that I was going to have a short appointment and not get to talk to her about everything that was concerning me.

Dr. Sorensen came in and sat down and talked with me about everything that was on my mind. She gave me advice on my headaches, talked with me about my gas, answered my questions about my diet and how much weight I should gain, and talked with me about how my C-Section would be handled. I got excited when she told me that she would be doing my surgery even if it’s not her day on in the hospital. She said that we would schedule it for 8 o’clock in the morning and that she would hold her clinic appointments back to accommodate the surgery.

We also talked about the fears that I was having with this pregnancy. I told her that was I more scared this time then I was with Hunter. She understood and told me that if I’m ever concerned to call and make an appointment to come in and she would check everything just to give me reassurance. She also told me I could email her with questions and she gave me her direct voice mail number to her desk and told me to call with any concerns. At that moment I knew I made the right decision to switch to her service.

After we talked about everything she had me lay down and said that we would listen to the heart beat. She thought it might be a little early and if we couldn’t hear it that she would do an ultrasound. She was able to find the heartbeat with no problem and said that everything sounds great. She also said that my uterus was right where it is suppose to be and the right size.

When I go back in 6 weeks on February 21st she said that we will be able to schedule what day I want to have the c-section on. Hopefully we can arrange to have it on a Friday and go home on Sunday.

Next up . . . February 1st at 9:00am, I have an appointment for the fetal ultrasound. Soon enough I will know if it is a boy or girl. I can’t wait.

Ultra Sound Take 2

They had to do another ultra sound in the beggining of the pregnancy cause it was too early before and my dates where not matching up with when my last period was. I was nervous at this appointment again so they waited till the end of the appointment to take my blood pressure. Also, rather then the nurse stepping out of the room she waited on the other side of the curton so that as soon as I was ready she could begin. She remembered that last time I was in I was crying and freaking out and she didn't want me to feel that stress again.

Good news . . . . everything is fine. She was able to see the heart beat and get the measuerments that were needed and was able to print me some ultrasound pictures. She adjusted my due date from 7/4/07 to 6/28/07 and my next appointment will be on 12/5/06

1st Ultrasound

I had my 1st appointment for the pregnancy today. At the appointment they do an ultrasound, give you your due date, set up your frist few appointments, schdule the appointment for the anatomy ultrasound, give you lab slips for some blood work, and go over things you can take for headaches, stomach aches, etc.

I was rather nervous about this appointment today. It was just 5 months ago that at this appointment I was told the pregnancy wasn't viable. When the nurse came in I started to cry. I explained to her what had happen. It was almost like dejayvu. The ultra sound began and she couldn't see the heart beat. The crying got a little more intense. She explained that she could see the "sack" and that with the date of my last period they probably just scheduled my appoinment a week too soon. She gave me an intial due date of 7/4/07 but said it will likely change when I come back in. I guess I just have to wait till the next appointment to get some answers . . . . .

Pregnancy Test

The morning I took the home pregnancy I had a lot of mixed feelings. For those of you know what has happen in the past you will remember that I had 2 miscarriages. The 2nd miscarriage was harder for me to get over; my girlfriend and I were pregnant at the same time and due within a week of each other. It was a Sunday morning after Church and on the way home I asked my mom to stop in at Longs. When I got home I went into the bathroom and proceeded to follow the directions on the box. Jon just thought that I was in the bathroom and when I was finished I went out onto the back deck and showed him the pregnancy test. It looked positive but wasn't a 100% clear. Jon told me everything would be fine and not to worry. The following morning I went to Kaiser and and gave them a urine sample. I had to wait till after 3 pm the next day to get the results. That was pure torture for me. I went to Longs after I left Kaiser and took another 2 home pregnancy tests. To my relief they both came positive and there wasn't a question about it. The next day I called and talked to a nurse at Kaiser and she confirmed that my test was positive and scheduled me for my first appointment. I still wasn't getting my hopes up though. Jon and I made a decision not to tell anyone about this pregnancy only cause of the sad news we had to share the last two times. Also at that moment I put my faith and trust into God's hands and knew that he had a plan for me and when I was suppose to have another child He would grant that to me.
